I am a newbie here so please go easy on me OK.

I was told on the 300zx TT and Supra TT forums that you folks may be interested in some of my designs. Check out my web page and email me with questions. I do not know at this point whether it will work on your cars but I am open to try. Here is an example of what I am on about. It is a REAL custom install on my Audi S4. Please let me know what you all think. I have yet to examine the RX7 T Cluster but it may work. You will probably know better than I.

Very nice work. If you could do it in different colored bulbs/lenses it would be more appealing for me. But I don't see why it wouldn't work with our gauge clusters. Very nice job!!

does the af gauge use the stock narrowband o2 sensor?

 

You can go to this website. Very informative.
From there I learnt that it gets signals from the ECU harness.
So I assume that would be narrowband AFR signal.
So the result of this mods, should be the same as what the ECU sees for Boost and AFR.

Very clever and nice modification. You should have work for auto industry.

Yes, it is a narrow band (.9v) design. Works on most cars.

Which Web Site? You never left a link. The only problem with using the OEM sensor, is if it is anything like the 300zx the accuracy is attrocious! I have 2 options, I test the car and evaluate the EOM MAP sensor, if it is accurate then I can use it. If not I use my own selected sensor. It is only a $30 part. Then you just tee into the vacuum line some place for Real Time Boost readings. My gauge is accurate to +/- .125 psi

I think the stock MAP sensor is good. Up to 15 psi.
Most people here upgrade their MAP sensor once they go higher than 15psi.

For stock O2 sensor, its a narrorband sensor.

the tick marks are different btwn. the 93 and the 94/95 tachs.

Thanks for all that info, I do not need a MAP as the one I provide goes to 25 psi (I only use 20 of it) and I use the OEM O2 sensor already in the car. So I do not need that. All I need is to measure the Tach face and see how much room there is behind it. does anyone have have an ECU wiring diagram of the car showing all the sensor inputs?

I will check those links but if someone could email it to me that would be great.

Excellent craftmanship! If you do an A/F gauge I would wire a 4 wire O2 sensor to it.

 

No they are not.

 

the gauge cluster on the third gen is one big circuit board. all the gauges are connected to this.

I think it'll be tough to get one to work without replacing all the gauges in the cluster.

You wouldn't have too much trouble selling this too me ... at a reasonable price.

 

looks great, I would buy one.... a few notes though:

1) the red line needs to be raised, like another 1000 :-) for our rotary engines

2) the dial arm would need to be made orange (like our stock dial arms)

other than that it kicks aZZ!!!

 

a professioal wideband is all I trust, Motec baby

on another note, thats pretty good looking although i have always though a mechanical/sweeping guage was much easier to read (boost gauge wise).
