I don't know for SURE but I'll bet that the bellhousing bolt holes will line up. I think the more important issue will be the overall length as well as the strength of the guts. Keep in mind that they are designing this thing for a non turbo engine... It does put out about the same HP as a [3] but the torque is down a big chunk.

Brian (I hope it fits too!)

They had one on here not long ago for a 6-speed straight cut gears for the stock tranny box.. Im sure the rx-8 will hold anything most people here can throw at it. Im sure the designers over there know that people will turbo that and other people are desiging turbo kits for it. So it should hold up to the tq. pretty well.

You can get a seq box in Japan for anywere between 5000-6000 buckeroos ! That's the price I saw them at on Speedlab's site. .. but I just checked their site to see if they still had them and the site is down ..maybe they went broke ..wonder why ?!?!

Rx8 tranny in Fd!!!

I don't think it would fit unless you also moved the engine back a few inches. Remember, the engine in the Rx8 is pushed back about 7 or 8 inches but the gear shift lever is still in the same spot like in the Fd. If this conversion was done with the engine in its current location, I think the gear shift lever would rub against the radio of the center consule. Now for those guys who've had 20b engines put in their Fd's by Peter Farrell the Rx8 tranny would be an exellent choice. In Peters Farrell's conversion he likes to place the 20b further back in the chasis all to avoid relocating the steering rack. With the 20b pushed back like that it keeps the cars center of gravity similar to a regular Fd. However this conversion moves the gear shift lever further back also. I bet its kind of funny shifting gears at your hip! Now provided the Rx8 tranny can handle some torque, this transmission would be perfect for this application. I would think the gear shift location would be back to normal. IMO

the rx-8 is a whole new car. i dont even know its demensions. the new renesis is smaller than the 13b-rew, so maybe that is why it is further back. i still think it is a possibility for the fd. i dont think the tranny is that much shorter id at all. . . but who knows.

What about bolting it up to our PPFs? What does a RX-8 use anyway?

From my reseach, the Rx8 uses a closed section power plant frame. Now what that means I have no idea. Maybe it completely surrounds the drive shaft or something.
