Rx-7 models, whats the difference?

Sup guys,
basic question, tried using the search function but didnt find anything........

I know what an R1 is, but i read about an R3 here and ther. what models of 3rd gen Ex7s are there?

I amthinking about selling my sr20det powered 240sx for an RX7, but i know i am just trading one headache for a more expensive one.

thanks in advance for your time,
Brian

What year is your sr20det 240sx? I'm looking to buy one as a second car... hehe. There is no R3, 95s were still called R2.

hehehe, just curious, how do you like 240sx with the RB engine? Why are you selling it? (and why do you say "Trading one headache..." is it that bad?) Sorry, I don't know much about the different trim types of the 3rd gen FD's. What made you choose a 7? And if you get one, let me be the first to say "Welcome to the community "

I dont have an RB motor, those are the skyline motors (i.e. RB26DETT). I have an SR which is out of the silvia. there is an N/A version of th SR which came in the sentra SE-R models, 200sx SE-R, and the infiniti G20.

and as far as the headache thing goes, my sr has been sitting a while because i now have to replace the rod bearings, in which i have to pull the motor. and I know the Rx7 arent the most reliable cars. You cant beat on them like you can on a honda motor. I can put the time in, but I Dont know if i have to money to continuely put into it. But obviously the RX7 is worth the hassle, cuz eveyone I know thinks they're bad ***

lol, sorry I meant SR. I can't think tonight. But anyway, you should be able to sell your 240 for quite a bit of money now that the magazines have done all the silvia conversion stories. RX-7's are sweet, I hope you're successful in getting one

good choice to switch to an rx7 if you thought the sr20det was a headache, if you want to mod the rx7, it will definitely be a bigger headache. i've not done an sr20det swap myself, but i have friends who have, and didn't find it to be very difficult. and once its up and running, the engine is almost completely maintenance free up to about 400hp (at least the blacktop s14's are). rx7's are a lot of maintenance at just being bone stock. lots of rituals you need to do, and reliability mods that should be done.

check that out for all the model information up 95. basically, base had nothing. touring had sunroof, leather seats, bose stereo system. R1 had no sunroof, no cruise control, upgraded suspension, 2 oil coolers instead of 1, suede seats only, strut bar, and front and rear spoiler. in 94, the R1's were renamed to R2, thats the only difference i think.
