No.
- TOO much car for a young [male] person.
- Insurance will kill you if you don't have a good job and aren't living with mom & dad.
- Upkeep isn't cheap. Parts aren't cheap. If you can't do fixes yourself it's going to be even more expensive.
- These things guzzle gas at a phenominal rate. I don't know about you but I have a good job, out on my own and still have a hard time paying $60+ for a tank of gas that can easily be burned in a day. Gas is also NOT going to get any cheaper, and likely much higher. For this reason alone I nearly wish I never bought mine and instead invested the money elsewhere.
Don't get me wrong, these cars are amazing. There's nothing like having every head turn as you drive through town. Women (particullarly 30+ women) love it, and even older folks love the look of it (truly a testament to the design). The car has a great deal of class, and that's why.
You just need to sit back and look at your whole picture. The RX-7 might not fit right now, but maybe in a few years. Just get a beater now and save your pennies.

First car? Hell no. My first car was a 90' Pontiac Grand Am 4dr Auto. 2400 dollars back in 96' and took all the abuse I put it through. Start small, then work your way up as you start making money, build mechanical skills, and sharpen your driving skills. You'll thank us later.

well I just got my 7 about a month ago after learning all I could about the rotary and about the 7 and this is my first car ever.... But i'm 20...i had my son when i was 16 and my daughter about 11 months ago so that's why it takin me this long to get a car....and let me tell u..these cars DO guzzle gas like they're a 4x4. I can drive pretty good but that means nothing.....like monkman said....this car is not for a first timer....But i can keep mine up and know enough about cars to know when something messes up......Do be like me and Jump head first just cause u got the $$$ cause i got $$$ and still have it hard.... Get a Ol' Skool Chevy or a Caddy
