Thumbs up Rx-7 (FD) Magazine Quotes

Hey guys,

Like the title says I am looking for magazine/review quotes for FDs when they first came out. I know there are tons of great quotes from magazines like Car and Driver, Road and Track, Sport Compact Car, etc., stating how awesome the FD truly is.

List the quote and the credible source that it came from.

I'll start the first quote from Sport Compact Car of 2001 for the Ultimate Handling Shootout:

"Driven with seriousness, however, the Rx-7 managed 1.035g, the highest reading of the contest, and the highest we have ever recorded without R-compound tires."

interesting...

"Loving an RX-7 required the same oath of fealty that a Lotus Esprit demanded of its owner: The car owned the driver, and the driver was bent to its will. "

Evo Magazine (UK):

They give it 4/5 stars.

Yep, I was in a lazy mood when I posted it... also assumed the original poster might like to read a few more magazine articles rather than just hear our favorite excerpts.

"The new RX-7 is a that rarity among new cars, a design that is smaller, lighter, stronger, and markedly faster than the model it follows in production. It looks like a serious sports car, and there is no denying its abilities."
Automobile Magazine, January 1993 (Design of the Year article)

I really liked some of the Mazda advertisements, too, 'lightning in a world of thunder' and the one about the only brake pedal that makes a car faster. There was one with a few pages of pretty in-depth tech info.

it takes years of Rx-7 ownership for you to own the car rather than the car owning you.

I was 9 years old, but 10 when mine rolled off the assembly line. Maybe I'm being an amature here, but in the sports compact car article it says the car is a 2616cc, two rotor. Wouldn't that be a four rotor at that size?

yes that would be the displacement of a 4rotor if it was 2 13B's bolted together.

"The RX-7 made us crazy. Crazy in love; crazy mad. This is one passionate vehicle." Automobile (October 1993).

Pretty much sums up my ownership experience and I wouldn't have it anyother way.

"The RX-7's performance was like having an MIT grad student, as a prank, enroll in Calculus I at a junior college. For instance, in lateral acceleration, its advantage over second place equalled second place's advantage over 15th place."

Motor Trend 9/92

I'd love to find these articles somewhere, are they online anywhere?

Not from a magazine, but it was memorable.

(Ferrari driver in the paddocks at Laguna Seca)
Hey! That's a 3rd gen RX-7, right?

(me)
uh huh

(Him)
We have a saying that you guys would make great Ferrari owners because you're used to constantly paying way to much for hard-to-find parts.

(me)
wanna trade?
