How do you check the condition of the spring in a stock FPR?

No way to visually inspect, short of destructive. You could infer the state of it with some sort of test rig......hand pump to simulate boost and read the resulting increase in fuel pressure.

Simple fix is get an SS spring, like the one supplied with FuelLab FPRs.
