E85/water injection substituted for meth/water injection?

Although, I've spent most of the day reading about AI. I was not able to find a definite answer on whether you could substitute E85/water for Meth/Water injections on pump gas. So, my question, to get a definite answer, is, "Would E85 a viable source of auxiliary injection using pump gas?" And, if so, I'm assuming it would retain most of the cooling properties of methanol?

My understanding is you use the best fuel available through your injectors/fuel system, and then use the water purely for its knock deterring properties and its effect on cooling EGT's.

That would suggest the best pure petroleum from the bowser (should be 91-93 octane) with 200:1 premix 2-stroke (100:1 if no OMP) and then 5-20% water injection on top preferably very finely misted and pre turbo.

In Australia our best is 98RON (RON rating gives a higher number than MON, or (RON+MON)/2 which are the most common ways of rating automotive petrol.

If you need better than your local pump fuel, it is possible to mix 30-50% toluene with the best pump fuel available to make a very high octane (and more carcinogenic).

The problem is toluene is that it does not atomise well at low temperatures and will require pre heating to approx 70degC to work properly.

Hey Jobro, thanks for that good point. I do agree using the safest fuel available for the primary source of power is the best option. But, I guess I should state what I'm currently thinking. I'm currently philosophising my build running E85 as my primary fuel source. I'm thinking about ditching the intercooler, since I won't be going over 2 bar on my turbo'd setup. I've come up with a plan to route an ambient air intake. E85 has proven successful with this setup on use with pistons and I feel pretty confident it will work with rotary. However, I can't warrant the loss of hp (due to increased post-compressor side air pressure and lack of air density etc etc) from lack of cooling by removing the intercooler for a cleaner looking engine bay.

So, lately I've been reading about AI and if I could use E85 as a way to cool post-compressor air, from let's say 45 degrees to a mere 1-2 degrees, rather than using an intercooler and dealing with more room issues and suffering from the air obstruction it causes... It would make me happy, since I also don't see a point to pay for methanol while running E85, otherwise I'll just bite the bullet and go intercooler / water injection pre-turbo.

Again thanks for the help and any inputs you guys have.

On my new car I'll be running E85 with 600cc of water pre-turbo and 600cc of water post IC at high boost. Whatever I can get out of a GT4202r.

Probably dyno tune it in the Spring.

I'll post results.

I'm hoping for a reliable 680whp.

Two 1mm jets pre-turbo and two 1mm jets post IC with 150 psi pump.

Aquamist HFS-3 kit.

Don't know yet, I have only used Aquamist.
