any other symptoms like rough idle or light/heavy white smoke when it starts?

t2ae 02-21-13 01:47 PM

no none at all! it runs fine and idles great steady at 1k

t2ae 02-21-13 01:48 PM

smokes a little but mainly from being so rich id say as my eyes kill me lol

-this is the only thread i have found so far with the same issues but this was on a fc and once was a automatic. lemme know what you guys think

RotaryEvolution 02-21-13 03:10 PM

could be a problem with your fuel pump/relays/wiring.

ok fuel pump is hard wired straight to the battery. i ruled out the circuit relay last night and the coolant temp connector is good along with the ait connector

t2ae 02-22-13 06:40 AM

one interesting thing i was reading in one of the above threads is where hailers2 was talking about the ecu not seeing the start signal. now i did replace the harness that goes to the starter awhile back and i dont know why but that harness did not match up 100% as i had to run my own wire from the starter solenoid to the connecting harness for the starter signal. now i have not had any problems at all with this. but i wonder if possibly somehow my ecu isnt seeing the start signal

t2ae 02-22-13 08:24 AM

codes that are still present are...
23 Fuel thermosensor
28 Solenoid valve - EGR
30 Solenoid valve - split air bypass
38 Solenoid valve - accelerated warmup system and air supply valve
39 Solenoid valve - relief 2

t2ae 02-23-13 03:32 PM

Bump anyone??

RotaryEvolution 02-23-13 04:07 PM

grab the hand controller and go to the fuel screen, bump the injection up 10% and see if it fires.

oops nm, no power FC. check your thermosensor input voltage to the ECU as well as your TPS voltages.

t2ae 02-23-13 07:16 PM

Fuel thermo or coolant thermo

t2ae 02-24-13 09:10 AM

dont know if it helps but my rpm gauge does bounce a little when cranking

t2ae 02-25-13 05:55 AM

ok anyone??? i drove it to work this morning it did fine no problems at all. just srpayed a little brake cleaner in it before first start.

t2ae 02-25-13 07:46 AM

one more bit of info... the drivers side fan does come on when the ignition is switched to the
on position. with that being said would that mean that something is telling the ecu that the car is warm therefore no injecting enough fuel??

t2ae 02-27-13 05:35 AM

Hello??

t2ae 02-27-13 12:22 PM

ok....well tonight im going to check the start signal going to the ecu and see if im getting any voltage to it. 1C is the terminal if im remembering correctly

86boy 02-28-13 10:06 AM

Sounds like you are getting closer! That's awesome! I'm not 100% with these rx7s but most cooling systems have a "coolant fan switch" that is based off of water temps. Once the water temp reaches a certain temp the fans kick on. There's generally a relay as well for this, and that could be stuck or your fan switch failed. I'll have to look more into how this is setup in these cars.

JBF 02-28-13 11:10 AM

Why don't you just get a Power FC? It sounds like you'll eliminate all the guesswork by doing so.

t2ae 02-28-13 12:00 PM

i would love to but money is a little tight for that at this second.

t2ae 03-01-13 12:17 PM

so had a little time to work on it again today....only thing i have noticed is the pin 1C is always seeing 12v as if it is harwired. i dont feel that this is my cold start issue

t2ae 03-01-13 01:12 PM

ok so note to keep posting so much but i did just recheck some things and according to the ecu pinout on alldata... the fuel thermosensor needs to be tapped into pin 1u. i dont have mine tapped into that so hopefully thats causing some issues

t2ae 03-01-13 02:07 PM

changed that and still no difference

JBF 03-01-13 02:55 PM

save money and buy a new harness and pfc

t2ae 03-01-13 05:26 PM

ok so may have found something...doing pinout test and found 3E(coolant temperture sensor) reading 12v constant....this is only suppose to read about 2.5v at 68degrees
