Exclamation running rich

havent got my car tuned in correctly on a dyno. i will start by saying when i bought the car it had a huge greddy intercooler and a few things done to it. its an automatic. the boost wasnt working. i took it to a rx7 shop they fixed it. seems whoever had it before me had it hooked up wrong hoses not right. well they put a apex computer and commander in it and when i got it home i put a aftermarket catback downpipe and midpipe. its making 17 pounds of boost. but it floods itself out when idle sometimes and it burns your eyes from the smell of gas. will i get more horsepower when i get it leaned to where it is suppose to be. doing 280 to rear wheels

If you are really running 17 psi of boost, you are at HIGH risk of blowing that motor. 280rwhp at 17 psi? Jaysus Ke-rist.

You got tooled. Put the stock cat back on, lower the boost to 10 psi, reset the PFC to the base map, and get a proper tuner/shop to work on the car.

Yah, do a search in your local area's forum for shops. Find a shop with a good reputation. I'm hoping for 280 at 7-8psi. If you're running 17lbs and only get 280hp, supposedly because you're running rich, you DEFINETLY have a problem. I doubt you could even run that rich, your spark plugs would be so fouled they wouldn't ignite. :o

boost is high because of decreased backpressure from the downpipe/midpipe. a 4 hr drive for some tuning is better than a 4 hour tow for a blown engine.

you're getting the same replies in each of your threads, but you still won't listen. What is it exactly that you want to hear?

280 whp @ 17 psi huh. Definitely a turbo timer problem.

"its an automatic."

Doesn't that change his tuning options drastically?
