Unhappy Running out of options?

Hey Guys,

My car is due for a TEST ONLY emissions test and it has failed twice off the dyno. The operator is a friend of mine and he said that my HC was off the charts. We did not put it on the dyno because it would send the result directly to the EPA/DMV. One of those *******..

Anyhow, the car is stock except for a few mods: Greddy intake, Megan Racing mid pipe with a Magnaflow cat, RB exhaust, and a Greddy 2 row i/c. He over looked the i/c and intake. New plugs were put on, new Magnacore wire, fresh oil, and a brand new cat.

The stock ecu is on, the air pump is working as it should, the ACV or air control valve is working, and the Magna flow cat does have the air pipe connected. I've tried the denatured/gas mix. What can cause the ECU to run so rich? Oh, the TPS was off and was readjusted to spec. The car ran like a champ once I'd adjusted the tps. Has anyone pass Cali emission test with the Magna flow??

Help me keep my FD on the road.

Thanks, Jay

When was the last tune up? Hows the air filter, plugs and wires look? Look for the cheap fix first. Hot or cold plugs plugs in it?

I didn't even know Magnaflow made cats....most likely it's just a muffler and you have NO cat!

You can get cat through them. I think another company might supply them though. But there still is a chance he doesnt have one.

No, it's a real Magnaflow cat. I got the mid pipe from a forum member and got the cat form an online vendor. I had a friend of mine tig the cat to the pipe. As a matter of fact, I wished I had my camera to show you the setup. He one of the best fab/welder guy I know. All the tune up parts have less that 200 miles on it. The pre-cat is on too.

Pre-cat + high-flow cat should pass easily. No ECU codes? Is the O2 sensor grounded well?

No codes. O2 grounded? It's just one wire to the connector right? Would a bad O2 cause such a rich running condition?

There are suposed to be 2 ground straps bolted directed to the exhaust pipe. One by the cat and the other near the tail pipe. Not proper grounding to the exhaust will give bad O2 signals to the computer.
