Running new speaker wires to the doors....how?
Everything is apart and I've done this on about 8 other cars. Most cars have a wire loom going into the door that has the window, locks, mirror stuff in it. This wire loom goes through a grommet and through a hole in the side of the car (covered by the grommet) and into the cabin.
In the seven.....there's a plastic harness where the hole SHOULD be. How the hell do you run new wires into the door if there's no hole?

Use the fatory wiring unless your upgrading to super high qualty speakers. At my shop we'ed remove the door and drill a new hole, grommet the hole, loom the exposed wire, leave enough wire to flex. Just use the factory wiring unless your installing JL ZRs of something. Put it this way if they arent in a suede linned suit case then use factory wiring and youll be fine.

^Is right....you'd have to basically remove the door and drill a new hole. The wire loom where it enters the car isn't just a bunch of wires through a grommet. It's actually a plastic harness the snaps into the steel. There's no way through.
I found a way through using some pre-existing holes in the fender. I snipped a small hole in the rubber molex and went into the door that way. It's not my preferred method but it worked.
And no, I couldn't use the stock wiring. I'm running a fully active two way front stage which means the tweeter and the midbass each need their own pair of wires running straight from the amp. So channels 1+2 are tweeters, 3+4 are midbass, 5 is the sub. Hope that makes sense.
Long story short....it's a bitch. unless you're running something hardcore like me don't run wires into the FD door. It's a trap.

Constant threat
When I bought my car it had already had an aftermarket head unit and amp installed, with Boston Acoustic components put in, I've noticed it has non-factory speaker wiring run to the speakers but I didn't realize what a PITA it is to do so.

Yeah it's hell if you don't take the doors off. The good news is I got it done.
I'd imagine most people on here haven't done it because most aren't stereo focused. And the guys who do replace their speakers likely just run components so running new wires isn't needed.
It will be worth it when I'm done. I'll post it all up later. Should be sometime in the next two weeks when the amp gets here.
