Has anybody had any recent feedback with Royal Purple Ice? On the search I did, I did not find anyone who has had any negative issues with it. However, I did find that some have found the Redline Water Wetter to eat collant seals. Just curious if anyone has found this to be true with Royal Purple also?

 

Neither of them eat coolant seals.

Both of them are about the same: You'll notice little difference, if any, if you cooling system is working as effecient as possible. i.e. you get better cooling performance by doing things like sealing around the radiator.

 

I have used it in a 60/40 and a 70/30 mix. No noticeable results.

 

So then would you guys say they're not even worth the money? Cause I'm about due for a coolant change and I'd figure if it's safe what's wrong with a little more protection against running hot or possible overheating for only 10 bucks? But if there isn't much of a difference then why bother. Thanks for the feedback.

 

It couldn't hurt, I just couldn't guarantee you'll notice any difference with it.

I have a bottle or so left on my shelf. I'll be using it just to get rid of it (before I switch over to Evans).

Why does he want his $10 back? Probably because the water wetter didn't make a difference, so he effectively just threw $10 out the window.

 

i psoted this once before.

i let the car warm up to 200f at idle in the garage
hit the fan switch and timed how long it took to drop to 180

(dont remember the actual time)

changed the coolant to the distilled/green/water wetter combo
did the same test and it dropped to 180 quicker fwiw

it wont make the car run cooler, the t-stat and the rad fans controll that. but i saw it speed up the heat transfer a bit which is all the old schoolers wanted when they used to put a bit of soap in their coolant to help lower the surface tension
