Rough idle in the morning
just wondering if anyone else gets this...
my car idles rough and smokes a lot in the morning or any cold start. (im running full exhaust) its a unusual amount of smoke.
back to the idling... its not rough enough to the point where you can see it on the tach, but the car vibrates and the engine pulses. once everything is warm, it idles smooth and everything is perfect. i dont even get smoke until WOT.
just wondering if this is NORMAL...

My FD's idle is pretty rough too. Especially when I let the clutch in and out, say from 1st gear (clutch in) to neutral (clutch out). It drops and struggles its way back up to 750 rpm. But most of the time it's not that rough when I let the clutch out in neutral.

Alright guys, you MUST do this. I had the same thing and it is now GONE. If you can change your plugs...but if they are fairly new it shouldn't be a prob. What you should do is take off your Intake Man. Elbow and clean out the inside of the Manifold. I sprayed about half a can of Carb. cleaner and Tons of Black and brown Crud came out. Put a rag underneath to catch the cleaner and spray until it runs clear. It Absolutely worked for me. No more rough start ups !! Try it and post your results. Don't forget to get the top two and bottom openings.

does your full exhaust sound extra ugly and loud, and smell extra stinky when its cold in the morning too? if so, i used to get the same thing. i am probably going to be getting a new pulsation dampener put in this week for another reason, but ill let u guys know if it helps at all with this problem too.

I start mine in first gear of course to bypass the AWS. It settles at 1500rpm after about 5 seconds but eventually drops to about 900-1200 as it warms up. But any cold-engine throttle blipping to 3k results in serious popping/backfires until it warms up. I've got the stock cat, and I still catch flame flashes in my mirror in a dark garage on a cold morning. Makes the neighbors real happy, too.. Vrooomm..... POP! POP! POP KAPOW! It goes away once warmed up, except for shifting.

My car used to do the EXACT same thing! I was worried that the smoke was from the coolant seals going bad but I had my cooling system pressure tested and it was ok... I think it's normal as long as u don't smell coolant in your exhaust. When I got the PowerFC, it idled much better and barely smokes anymore.
