I was just curious if the marks on these bearings warant replacement.

How many miles are on them? Bearings are so cheap, I'd probably replace them, esp in a boost application that sees track time (based on your sig).

 

We don't know... I am building it for a friend that is on a deadline. I am leaning towards geting them replaced. Does any one know if a local dealer can press them in?

Those scratches that go across the bearings (sideways angle) were not caused by wear, but by human handling. But I do see scratches that seemd to be caused by contaminated oil.

Look for exposed copper on the edges.... In the third pic, it looks like some is showing. It would never hurt to replace them either way.

 

Its hard to tell how deep the scratches are from the pics, but I don't like how those bearings look. Copper showing is definately a bad sign. If it was my motor I'd replace them.

 

You quite often get copper showing on the puzzle joint in the bearings, thats normal.

However, i would personally replace those bearings. There is some nasty pitting and scratching on them
