The right way to install an efini steering wheel system
what youll need is the steering wheel and clock spring horn deal (which i cant remember what its called since it doesn't have a ribbon cable).
you can also follow steps from this thread
Steering Wheel Removal and Efini Installation - RX7Club.com
step 1. remove stock airbag
step 2. remove steering wheel
step 3. remove column bezel
step 4. remove clock spring
now heres where i might have my steps wrong since i installed my steering wheel in December with out pluging in the horn
step 5. now for this step youll need the turn signal cancelling piece which is purple on my efini set up labeled B . on the airbag system setup it is white as you can see on rotorsownyou7 thread -Steering Wheel Removal and Efini Installation.
so for this step you switch those two
step 6. youll install the efini clock spring horn labeled C on the picture in step 5
the wires coming down from the clock spring assembly is connect to something underneath i dont know what, but the connector has 3 pins. On the dash harness the connector has 2 pins so your horn pin is missing. your horn ground is the white cable from the clock spring. label A is the connector that goes through the steering wheel and you connect your steering horn cover.
here a picture of the connector that youll need to repin or splice from the white wire on the clocks spring to the green and orange wire on the front harness
Step 7. find the blue airbag connector on the front harness that comes through the firewall next to the fuse block. once you find it pull the rubber insulator back and you should see the wires. now the pin that i used was the middle green and orange wire y
picture of the connector
AND TO DIAGNOSE THAT YOU HAVE A WORKING HORN STICK A WIRE IN THERE AND GROUND IT YOUR HORN SHOULD SOUND IF EVERY THING IS WORKING CORRECTLY
Step 8. you can do several things
A. follow what prew did on his thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-horns-984428/
B. splice and connect the two cables
or
C. de-pin your airbag bag harness wire and connector. i de-pinned all wires on the connector that goes to the steering wheel and removed all but the middle green and orange wire on the one that connects to the front harness. as you can see on this picture, i connected the blue connectors and pushed the pin through the connector on the clock spring to test. as you see on the picture on step 9
I depinned the connector
step 9. repin the white connector, reconnect the connectors and hide the wire
