Rhythmic click at idle

I've had this "noise" since i've owned the car, from i'd say below the center of the UIM i *think* it originates, but when the car is idling the most audible noise is a "click click click" like a fuel injector, more clicks per second when i raise the rpm and it's loud enough to distinguish it from all other noises when car is running, hood closed, just sitting there

i can pretty much tell what rpm the car is idling at by listening to this click (even while sitting in traffic)

is this normal?

seems to dround out past ~2000rpm, car has stock exhaust so engine bay noises are clearly the loudest

Ignition coil is my guess. I had the same issue. It was arcing.

i don't believe so, it's just your average ordinary click click click/tick tick tick that's rpm dependant

maybe pulley bearing?

maybe pulley bearing? If the belts tension is too high, bearing would be worn out.

Maybe the smog pump cutting on and off. You could unplug it and see it goes away.

tried to unplug, no difference... i really think it's a exhaust manifold leak (tiny one), cause i also hear "air" underneath the passenger floorboard when it's cold most prodominantly and the main cat gaskets are bran new

I have the same thing. I looked under the hood at night and sure enough if you look close enough to the spark plug area hehind the manifold i could see arching going on, so maybe your wires are old and need replacing.

could be that you need a rubber bushing on one of the hard lines on the firewall.
search, you will find the details.

I had an annoying tick that changed with rpm...turned out one of the arms on the turbos was knocking up against them. Going non-sequential fixed it since you have to tie down that arm.

So, you went non-sequential because one of your actuator arms were missing an e-clip?
