reupholster seats?!?

hello everyone
im currently in the process of getting a 93 rx7 fd. the car is beautiful and i love it. the only thing that makes me go is the seats. for seats that have seen 13 years of use they are in good condition but i think new seats would just make the interior awesome.. the rest of the interior rocks. well.. i dont really need or want racing seats(the stock seats are classy).. and i dont want somebody elses used seats so i was wondering if getting the seats reupholster is an option. im in san jose and if you guys can refer to a shop and give me a ball park price. two tone leather would be cool. if not then what are my other options? thanks you guys.

run a forum search for leatherseats.com. They aren't exactly like the stock ones, but look pretty good.

In your neck of the woods there should be TONS of upholstery shops. Hit up the yellow pages and do some calling - many times reupholstering is quite inexpensive.

What did you use to color the seatbelt retainer webbing? Did you take it apart or anything?

You may also still be able to find stock seat upholstery. Mazda sold replacement seat coverings. Last time I checked one supplier had some at "clearout" prices. I can't find it for you now of course!

Unfortunately, they only had seat bottoms in red leather. Not all the pieces needed (there are 6) to re-do a set of seats. They were dirt cheap, but to buy the rest would be full price.

k on mine, i was lucky enough to have an uncle who owns a body shop spray the parts for me. The bottom plastic pieces on the seats were sprayed and so were the seat belt reatiners(with what, idk) Also the seat belt reatiner did come apart.

I had them professionally installed down the street at a very reputable shop.

$475 shipped for covers
$315 installed

Total about $800. Def DEF needed in my car as the seat were killing the vibe of the RX-7. Ppl see this nice car on the outside and then get in to see the interior is all old, dated,NASTY.

Now i think its looking good.

Leatherseats.com has some plain black leather covers on sale right now unless they have sold out. I contacted them about a week ago.

I bought Katzin skins two years ago for $620. It takes a couple of hours to swap the skins out. The material is very nice. www.autoleathers.com
