retexturing R1 lip: anyone done it?

I just got an R1 lip in the mail today, and it's quite well used...more so than i'd expected. At any rate, since the spoiler's so well-seasoned, I'd like to retexture it somehow and would imagine that there's some kind of paint that I could use to do it. Anyone ever done this? If so, please let me know what kind of paint you used and if you had to use any special techniques.

I already x-posted in the interior/exterior forum, but since this is a 3rd gen specific part, I wanted exposure to the peeps here.

TIA,

Clean it real good, sand it w/ 80 grit paper then spray it with Black Rubberized Undercoating (available at any Auto Parts store)

How durable is that rubberized undercoating stuff? Will rocks chip it off? What about those unfortunate incidents with curbs/parking logs?

I'm also curious about this. I got the same crappy R1 lip in the mail. Actually it's not horrible, but still it's a bit hurting. Someone reply!!

It should be very durable - it remains flexible so it won't chip or crack like paint and if the surface is well prepared it won't peel either.

I dont think any paint is gonna hold up to future scrapes or rocks hitting it......just get in the habit of doin it annually. And how do I know this when I dont even have an R1 lip YET???? Some dude gave me a step by step accnt like max mentioned above.
