Resonated MP vs Straight Thru MP

Guys...

I'm looking at the rx7store.net site...

Im replacing my catylac converter now that I have a pfc. Anyways, does a resonated midpipe mage a significant difference between the regular just straight through midpipe???

Im debating wether or not the resonated one is worth the extra 100 dollars. Or if I should just save the 100 bucks and live w/ a little bit louder exaust.

But if it does make a pretty noticeable difference in regards to noise levels, I'd pay the extra money just so I dont get a headache on the long drives.

Thanks,
Greg

Got a straight-through DP/MP with RB dual tip. Not bad most of the time...but get on the gas pedal, and the exhaust sound turns to RAW ANGER! I like it

Either way you are going to get that annoying highway "droning" and smell like exhaust. The resonated will not make a difference is power but will quiet the exhaust tone. If you are even questioning it, get the resonated pipe.

you can always have a resonator welded in later ifyou decide that it's too loud.

I have a high-flow cat with the innards all crumbled up. You can hollow out the ceramic innards completely, and you'll have a resonated midpipe then

i have the resonated midpipe(which did not fit correctly), dp and catback and it drones at highway speed. its very loud, i doubt it helps very much as its just a trap muffler with no deadening material. you might as well go straight through

I like my Pettit resonated mp. I think it helps with droning.

As for the power I dont think it hurt much as I'm making over 400rw with that and the Pettit dual tip quite cat back exhaust

I have the RB Duals and a resonated MP...I like it, I like it a lot At idle and around town driving I didn't notice a difference over the stock cat with the RB Duals. The only time I really notice a difference in sound is when the secondar turbo kicks in. Sweet *** sweet!

Which resonated midpipe are you referring to ?

The one that the RX 7 store sells is a muffled type, with stainless steel packing.

I had the midpipe and now I have a resonated midpipe. The resonated was a waste of money and I didn't notice any change in noise. I wish I never wasted my money. My current setup is huge street ported motor, downpipe, resonated midpipe, Apexi GT Spec exhaust. Oh, I purchased the Pettit's resonated midpipe.

Apexi GT Spec exhaust? Damn. I bet that's loud! I have the RB dual tip, and that's plenty loud with a midpipe!

I have straight through exhaust and its not bad. I just get gas smell into the cabin sometimes - usually when backing out of the parking lot - I just switch to the internal air circulation when in reverse and problem is solved.

I like the sound, but my rear Remus muffler is hollow and I'll get an APEXi N1 muffler replica next year.

loud wouldnt bother me... but im thinking in regards to if my g/f will even want to set foot in the car with me if we ever drive anywhere. Last thing I need is to give my g/f a headache or get her high from fumigation, lol. Only kidding. I ended up ordering the resonated mid pip from rx7store.net, any idea how long these guys generally take to ship an item???

I'm not in a rush, but I dont feel like waiting 3 weeks either.

Thanks,
Greg

I ordered mine from them last Friday. Jason mentioned that he had them in stock, and would ship right away, so my guess would be that you would have yours very soon. (no drop shipment)
