reseal oil pan w/brace

I need to reseal my oil pan with the Garfinkle brace. Is is easier to remove the engine cradle or lift the engine and remove it through the brace? I have read write ups both ways and I think I would have to disconnect so much of the wiring harness and a/c to hoist the engine again. How hard is it to remove the engine cradle? And what is involved? Thanks in advance for the replies. This forum is the best!

When my pan was resealed, the mechanic put a jack under the tranny, jacked it up a bit, and then lowered the entire assembly to remove the pan. This was all done from the underside, while the car was on a lift.

Thanks Adam. I take it you are saying just remove the entire engine cradle. Do you know what it cost to have your mechanic do this?

I unbolt the subframe and take out the four bolts to the steering rack and pull it forward ,remove the bolts to the lower A armes and the nuts to the motor mounts . Pull the sub frame down and the pan will clear .

make sure u don't tight the bolt too hard. it will brake the oil gasket, then it will leak. check your mount too, make sure that the oil didn't get into it or crack. if crack, you should replace it also. and the mount cost about $320 or $350 for each( from the mazda dealer ). Good luck

I think it was the subframe, and steering rack that were lowered, as posted above. I was charged around $400.
