Replacing the fuel filter?
I got in there and was looking around. Is the fuel filter above the differential? I check my shop manual and it is the worse drawing and instructions that I have ever seen. Any help or guidance to a 'how to' would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

why more people don't relocate the dumb thing to the engine bay is way beyond me....one of the first mods I ever did....I use the K&N washable filter with quick disconnects and and clean it every 3k in about 5 mins, tops

Man relocate that thing quick to a K&N FF and nevwer deal with it again. I have been doing this to a couple of freinds cars and it works nice I will be doing mine real soon. Best way to get those hoses off is getting a tool from sears that spreads the hose off. it grabs the metal pipe and push the hose right off. cake work if you ask me takes about 25 minutes to do...

I used a couple of pen caps to block the hoses, while off the filter. After the first time I changed it, I'll NEVER do it again. I'll probably relocate it next time. It's a pain in the azz, but one of the must do's for any FD owner.

ok sorry, I found some info through search "K&N fuel filter", etc...anyhow now that this post has been pushed back up - anybody have a suggestion to relocate the K&N somewhere safer than in the hood - maybe where it was, but in an easier to reach spot?...any suggestions...?

Garfinkle relocates the filter and bracket down ,behind the rear end on the sub frame ,drill two holes and replace the hoses . A safe place and change the filter in 2 or 3 minutes

thats not paint....
Relocating it is so easy.... Just got ou and get about a foot in 5/16" fuel hose from local auto store. A K&N Billet Micron 5/16" barb fuel filter (not sure on part # but check knfilters.com). Also get 4 5/16" worm gear clamps.
Pull off the old filter from above the Diff. then replace with the fuel hose & clamp. Next cut the FUEL IN line for your engine, be sure to leave some room on both sides. Slide the new fuel filter on and clamp both sides. The K&N has a flow direction symbol so dont get that mixed up. If you want to get really fancy you can do the gauge thing.
Me and the rikki man did mine, easy as pie, took say an hour or so with me and him goofing around and doing some other work on my car.

Remember guys fuel line is for carberator cars and Fuel Injection line is you you will need. Thats why the fuel injection line cost like 4x more than regular fuel line. Changing the fuel filter is pretty easy, i know the hose is usually stuck on there pretty good, all you have to do is twist the fuel line to break the seal and you can just pull it right off.

or you could just leave it where it is at and take 30 mins out of your day and change it, its really not that hard, first time it took me 30 mins. then same day went and changed a friends in a little less.
