replacing air pump and pcv
Well, I tore in to the top end of my FD for the first time today. The UIM is a lot of fun. Christ there is a lot of things connected to it.
Anyway, I am replacing the PCV hoping it corrects my smoke on startup issue. After pulling the old PCV off, I am doubting that is the problem. It rattles, and I can blow through it one way. So, I am guessing that is not the problem. But, as preventative maintenance I replaced it anyway, along with the other four check valves that were under the UIM.
There was a significant amount of oil in the hose from the intercooler, and in the throttle body. So either the PCV is to blame or more probably the twins are shot.
I also replaced the air pump while I was in there. I ran out of energy, or I would have replaced the AST with a new aluminum one. Oh, well that will have to wait for another day.
