Exclamation Apexi Power FCs coming to an end!

Yes, you read that right. I'm as surprised as you are. Apexi has begun sequentially discontinuing the Apexi Power FC's for various cars, including the FC3S, and the '96 - '98 FD3S. According to my sources in Japan, the '93 - '95 FD is next on the list. Rumor is that they won't be making them again. Being that the current stock that Apexi has is the last of the last, they're flying off the shelves in J-land. Just thought I'd give everyone a head's up to jump on getting one before it's too late...

I have been trying to get ahold of you by the way! I wanted to purchase a used PFC but I'll just upgrade to a new one if you have it on the shelf.

Thanks,
Zach

Hey Zach,

Yea I have a bunch in stock. In fact, as a result of this discontinuation, I'm running a GB on the PFCs in my vendor section here: https://www.rx7club.com/fdnewbie-archive-forum-190/gb-soon-discontinued-brand-spankin-new-apexi-power-fcs-commanders-600920/

Thanks,
~Ramy

Well that sucks, do they have anything else coming out to replace it? It seems that the power FC's sold well for them, I wonder why they would stop producing them?

From what I have heard, the actual ASIC chips in the PFC are going out of production so it may be that Apex'i had no choice.

Goodbye PFC we hardly knew you!
What a sad day. The best overall ECU for a lot of cars is no longer. I sure hope A'PEXi comes up with a replacement that's even better.
I should buy a few in case I ever get another money pit or just in case.

Can you help, Ramy?

Not for S4's they didn't. SOL unless you want to do more work than it's worth.

Wow, that really surprises me. They basically have the monopoly in the market. It doesn't seem very smart to discontinue such a high-demand item.

Some other electronics company should take over the production of the chips if that is the case.

I just thought of something: I bet FC-Datalogit is pissed at this news. Sure, they'll still sell units, but it will taper off without new units being produced.

True, but from what I've seen, the JDM aftermarket R&D is still catering to these older cars: Supras, RX-7s, 300ZXs, etc. They are developing parts for STi's and EVOs for sure, but us older guys are still a large portion of their business.

My humble apologies. There was a thread in the PFC forum last week on this topic where it looked like they were just discontinuing some models, not the PFC entirely.

This really sucks for modding FDs....there are no comparable plug-and-play options out there.

Why would you run a GB on Power FC's. Its time to raise the price to $2k. Make money now while you can

On a side note I talked with the guys at Apexi today and they have not heard anything about them being discontinued.

They don't make them for S4 or S5. I get my S5 units from AP Engineering - who make a custom set (inc harness).

I've not heard anything about this, but I've been expecting Apexera to jump on the bandwagon and make a more nintendo-like display.

Are you sure about that? Looks like they are only reducing production to specific models...check out www.apexera.co.jp/carlife.html. Here's the current support model list http://www.apexera.co.jp/carlife/pro.../p-fc_list.pdf
