Replace wing mirror glass

Hi,

My left side wing mirror is broken on my RHD rx7. I removed the glass using a heat gun and went with the broken pieces to my local glazier but he made the glass too big.

I figured it would be easier if i could bring him the plastic piece surrounding the mirror glass. But how do i remove it without breaking anything?

Thanks a lot!

If you took him all of the broken pieces and he made it too big, make him do it over again.

Were you able to install the new glass?

I would be looking for a genuine mirror glass instead of having someone make a glass.

The genuine mirror glass has a smooth round black plastic type bead around the outer edge for finishing and looks.

A piece of cut glazier glass will not have the factory bead around it and it will look weird compared to the other side mirror.

Its probably too big because all of the broken pieces fit inside the black bead that SA3R mentions. I won't be able to squeeze it into the bezel, but will have him cut it slightly smaller. He wasn't in this afternoon, will probably have it resized tomorrow or on saturday.

Is there no way of removing the bead? When i removed the broken glass the bead and backing plate is connected to the wing mirror. I don't have the guts to try to pry it out, but maybe that how you get it off?

Indeed a OEM mirror would be the best option, but i haven't been able to find one complete with this bead.
