replace a rear wheel stud without a new hub?
Is there any way to do this? The old stud is out and i need to get the new one in there... I hear that you have to replace the whole hub.... Is there a way to get the new one in and not have to wait on parts or spend more money? I am getting my car dynoed tomorrow but i need to have that stud in. any help is greatly appreciated
The side that had the broken wheel stud for me was the side where the axle wasn't stuck. Even knowing that, the rest of the work described in DamonB's thread scared me away when I read it a while back.
Yeah, I remember being 'oh my GOD!' when I read Damon's post. I've replaced a lot of studs in a lot of cars over the years, including several British sports cars but never, EVER had to go thru anything like that!

No it was on my FD... i have a turbo FB, TII and an FD. But i was heading to the dyno today so i HAD to get it replaced and the local parts stores didnt have one in stock. And so i got it replaced without pulling the hub or anything but NOT in a method i would reccomend. I ground one side of my stud flat, cut off my dust shield and ground about 1/16 or 1/8 off the hub and pounded it through. barely got it on but i had to to dyno it. So it worked but i dont know how much it hurt the structural rigidity of the hub...
