don't know about others, but the pfc controls the fans through the stock system using the relays and all.
alternatives to the butt ugly bracket and big *** relays would be nice. i've only ever seen one car that had the relays moved, but not reworked.

I think the relays don't look THAT bad .
You would need at least 3 relays to properly control the fans. There is a low, medium, and high speed for the fans - a relay for each speed. One of the relays basically does the same thing, since it's part of a different circuit.
BTW, Mazdaformance had a part closeout sale MANY moons back. They had the stock fan relays with the bracket closeout at $3.50 - no joke. I have nice, shiny looking relays .
This is a system that, if modified, needs to be done VERY well. Fan control is crucial to keeping the coolant temps happy. Cheapo parts store relays with crimp-on connectors pushed onto the terminals is WAY ghetto, and you don't want a failure there. If you simply want to hide the relays, modify the harness to mount the stock relays somewhere else.
BTW, after I added the HKS fan controller, I ditched the fan recall module and relay wiring. Having that extra harness gone under the relays makes it MUCH neater over there. That's a big ol' nasty wad of wires with the recall harness.

I was only going to setup for a one fan or two fan running operation rather than slow, medium, fast. No I don't plan on using cheapo relays and cheapo connnectors. Nor do I want to run a bunch of wires around. I just want to remove some of the mess and clean things up. Car is down for winter anyway so I have quite a few projects going on. I may relocate move a relay setup near where the abs is (its getting removed as well). Soooo does anyone have any ideas on how many amps the fans pull?

30A relay should be fine.. but if you want to be safe 50A will not let you down. I think stock fans pull 8-30A depending on speed. Or if your really scared/want to be fool proof.. wire two in Parallel so if one where to fail, another will still be able to prove power to the fan. This will also take the stress if the contacts on the relay. Also buy Quality relays, GM's are nice.

I would be VERY careful with fan selection - FC guys can tell you about going to aftermarket electric fans, the majority of them don't move much air and sound like a tornado under the hood, not to mention they have a higher mortality rate than OEM parts.
Not sure on the amperage draw - I know that was one benefit with the '99 fans is they're supposed to have less of an amperage draw. If you can find info on the '99 fans, you'll probably see old/new amp draws.

From what I found, 93-98 fan draws 160W 99+ draws 120W
So :
93-98 would draw 13.3A at full speed. (13.3A*12VDC = 160W)
99+ would draw 10A (10A*12VDC = 120W) V*I=P.. Also I know when the car is operating there is genarally 13-14VDC... but for max current sake, I used it calculating it with 12VDC as if the car were off.
It was unclear weather this was per motor or for both, but I think this is PER motor.. so both motors at high speed would draw 26.6A (93-98) / 20A (99+)
Hope this helps.
