repaint a CYM red?

I could not believe this, but it apears that someone has repainted their FD from competition yellow mica to red

It is for sale right now on e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2490100731

To each his own I guess, but IMO I can't understand why someone would de-value their car by doing this. Oh well.

yellow seems to be a color that is either loved or hated, but the fact still remains that there were only about 300 CYM FDs sold here in the states, and an overabundance of red ones. Therefore a CYM is typically worth more than any of the other colors.

Strange car... All CYM's were R1's so no leather interior, and no tan interior. It obviously has some sort of strange past life.

What a fricking mess!!! Current bid is at $5200 with reserve not met, but I think they've already exceeded this train wreck's value!

Okay, the car has tan seats with black carpet? Usually the carpet is the same color as the seats. This is one of the wierdest FD's I've ever seen. 100K on it, for 5500 dollars and they still want' more.

I totally agree. I also don't understand the logic of swapping an old "jdm cosmo" motor in. It would be one thing if they had put in a 3 rotor 20B out of a cosmo, but that engine. Ouch, I feel bad for whoever wins this auction. Granted, they'll be getting a nice looking car, but its not worth the jerry rigging that its gone through.

Take a look at his sellers info on e-bay and that will tell you how he built that car and where the original motor went.

He seems to sell a lot of 2nd gen parts.

People should have to qualify to own these cars.... **** pisses me off, why can't they **** up another Honda. Repainting a different color ruins the car enough, let alone taking a perfectly rare color and turning it into the most common of all RX-7. I wont even repaint my beater another color and I only bought it for 400$.

Personally I do not like yellow on any car even if it is a rare one for the RX-7. If I were to repaint mine I would prefer a total repaint only even if god only know when they would finish to take all the parts aways let alone reassembling them back.

One of the pleasures of this car is to see the engine. Now just imagen the horror when you find a different color when opening the bonnet.

i believe the intake ports on the cosmo motor are actually bigger then the ports on the rew. i could be wrong though.
