does anyone know a site that sells factory style connectors? I would like to make my relocation as neat as possible.

glssman: there sould be one in the factory manual. I can probably take pictures of the colored cables if you want.

I just finished up this job today, what a PITA. I'm hoping I didn't do the MAP/TPS sensor mix up, we will see about that though. Interested to hear more about that wire, but I'm looking at my pile of removed ECU pins and I don't see it, so that makes me happy.

I only broke the wire off of two connectors, the knock sensor and the lower thermostat housing one, the circular one. I managed to get the connector out of the knock sensor and fixed it and just crushed the plug of the thermostat one and reused the metal part with no plastic connector, oh well.

I ended up using electrical tape over the wires, covered by wire loom, covered by electrical tape. I think that will hold up for another 200k miles.

There is no place that I know of that sells stock harness connectors in low volume. I was able to source out a supply of the injector connectors a while back, but they would only sell in bulk of 200 connectors or more

Now if I can just get the engine installed and finish up the installation of that GT35/T4, then I'll be in business.

I believe JumLab and a couple others were working on all their cars and happened to conglomorate it into one large thread and each would post their progress and discuss ideas. Not sure how long ago that thread was up or if its even still available but it had a wealth of info if I remember correctly.

I have been thinking of redoing my harness while my engine is at the builder but I dont want to mess it up. I'd love to upgrade/replace the connectors, use higher quality wires and 'cool wrap' and wire-loom. I guess this is a pipedream though.

I have a CEL still from when I simplified the sequential system (not non-seq) and I jammed resistors into all of the solenoid connectors and I just trimmed off the pigtail for the ACV valve completely.

Well definately keep us posted I'd love the ideas for if I get gutsy.

Hey Dave, or anyone else...can you take a look at the Crank angle sensor connectors and see if the white cables go into the same pin out on both connectors or if they are switched.

Thanks,
Dan

I'm working on this now and I'm working on a PIN out diagram and wiring harness visual aide.

It's not done, but it might help make it a little easier.

Has anyone taken off the wires that go to the transmission? Is there any reason to keep them?

Besides the one that does speed!
So far I've elimnated:
Charge control solenoid (blue w/back strip and black w/white)
Double throttle control solenoid (black w/red and black w/white)
Charge relief solenoid (pink and black w/white)
Idle air control valve (blue w/green, and black w/white)
AWS solenoid valve (brown w/yellow and black w/white)

I'm working on removing the OMP wiring now.
Ayone know what connector has a thick black with green stripe and smaller black with blue stripe wire?

Does anyone know where I can find the pin out or diagram for the white and blue harness connections? Most of the white harness connector go to the transmission wires.

Here's a shot of some of the wires I've removed already. Lots of color!

you took the plunge too huh....It's a lot of work thats for sure. I'm pretty sure you need to keep all of the wiring that goes to the tranny. I honestly don't remember most of the wiring I did unless I look at the pictures.

Very nice job but I would've used the heat blankets they have for harnesses or, the heat retardent wire loom along with the heat wrap tape.

Glass Man

There's a conversion site with great info on the rx7 wire connectors ID at
www.grannysspeedshop.com

A Bill Hagan did one of the first breakdowns of the 3rd gen wire harnesses and the connectors.

It's now on grannys site.

Hood dampers are from Rotary Extreme.
The turbo blanket did indeed come from Gotham Racing as did the turbo it's covering. It's a GR67 kit.
That isn't shiny, it used to be...but then I stopped caring.

Everything looks great! You did a nice job on the harness.

I used the plastic split loom as well, then wrapped it with high temp electrical tape, then with high temp self fusing silicone tape, and then with some of the heat wrap. I hope it holds up to the heat...

Also, it looks like you have no AST? Did you just plumb the hose from the inlet to the bottom of the radiator?

I'm trying to see if I want to just tap and plug that tube under the filler neck and plug the hole to the radiator, or if I should just run a line between the two. Have you seen any negative effects?

Thanks!
