removing stock IC duct

Is there a way to remove the stock IC duct without cuting around the AC canister by the battery? Ideas?

Thanks,JCC

You have to unbolt the evaporator and VERY carefully lift it out (pulling to the driver's side). This will require bending the hard A/C lines. This is certainly doable but you have to be careful not to kink or break the lines. Just move slowly and you'll be fine.

I had mine cut out, its easy. basically grab a hack saw or dremel and cut it EXACTLY in half. When you put it back on, the ac canister will actually make a near perfect seal, you can put foam around the few air leaks you would have.

I have taken this thing out alot, it WELL worth it. That is one of the worst engineering crap designes I haver ever seen.

Cut away 1/2 of it. Throw the cut off piece away, and never worry about it again. Really bad design by Mazda.

BTW, that part of the AC system is the receiver/dryer. The evaporator is the part under the dash .
