step 1 remove motor from car
step 2 remove filter

Also the port job has nothing to due with the amount of oil your car takes. Put 4 quarts in it, start it, turn it off, wait, check it, add if needed. have a nice day

Does the oil pump kick on when the key is turned to on? If not, I guess the oil filter just stays dry for a few seconds after it is started?
Unless your "petit" engine has an oil pan other than stock, it will hold the same amount of oil.

All models have the same oil pan, therefore hold the same amount of oil "during a routine oil change" which is 4.4 U.S. qts.

Left side oil cooler: 0.38 U.S. qts
Right side oil cooler: 0.34 U.S. qts

Oil Filter (factory installed) 0.20 U.S. qts
Oil Filter (service part - what we buy from Mazda) 0.18 U.S. qts

Total dry engine is: 5.2 U.S. qts
Total dry engine (R-1 model) is: 5.7 U.S. qts

BTW: a good pair of large channel lock pliers works good as well for removing the filter if the "bare hand" method doesn't work.
