I promised pictures...

So, here's a brief how-to. There's a lot of good info in this threads from my exp and some quotes and links to other helpful threads. I hope someone gets some use out of it.
Here's why I removed my carpet

1. Remove the seats

2. Remove the rear 1/4 panels, bins, center console, sill covers, kick panels, a-pillar covers, vent covers, seat-belt to-floor bolts, etc

3. Drop the steering wheel

4. Unbolt the e-brake handle, remove the shifter(tough to get the dash over either of these, make your life easy).

5. Remove the dash. There are bolts and electrical connections on both sides, and a center bolt. Unbolt the thing and slowly take it away from the body, minding the electrical stuff.

At this point, you could cut around the HVAC stuff and likewise cut your other carpet to match. Then you could just lay the new carpet in and put the dash over it. No one could really see it. But, you'd know. And, we'd know. Forever. But, you're not a half-*** are you? So, don't do that. Keep reading instead.

6. Unhook the heater and evaporator hoses from the engine bay. Service angle is key here, some of it is easier to get from underneath, removing the rear turbo inlet pipe. Some of it just takes some patience and wd40.
7. Remove the ac evaporator from inside, mind the wire harnesses

8. Remove the heater core from inside, simply unbolt the computer on the left side, mind the harnesses

9. Remove the carpet, use a heat gun or a hot day. The stock carpet tar is sticky and will rip the rubber liner underneath. Unless you don't care about your old carpet. Also be patient removing it, so you don't break any old plastic posts or clips.

10. Swap over any missing patches or pieces from your old carpet onto your new carpet. I replaced a foam section under the passenger's feet(sealed it with Great Stuff) and some lint padding under both seats.

11. Boom! New carpet. Put the stuff back in, in reverse order. Maybe I'll post more pictures of that as I do it
