Removed airpump...now its rich?

I removed my airpump the other day and installed lightweight pullys. A/C and P/S are removed so the only belt i have is maindrive, waterpump, and altenator. When I removed the airpump, my a/f gauge (inaccurate, i know) shows that it is reading extremely rich at idle...and certain throttle levels when I'm driving. I know its not accurate, but it has always at least been consistant. My 02 volt reading reads .98-1.00 at idle, when it used to hop around from .07-.35. I dont have block off plates where the airpump was either. What could be causing the readings to show up like that? Is my car really running that rich? I have dp, mp, and catback so airpump was doing nothing anyways.

edit: i've heard its common to have idle bouncing problems when you remove the airpump, but i dont have any problems like that. if anything, it idles smoother and doesnt search for idle when i put it in gear.

Fix it with an intake and downpipe.

?? i have an intake, full exhaust (dp, mp, catback). im using a PFS purple box ecu. before i removed the airpump the 02 volt reading was always fine. now its reading like its totally rich AT IDLE. i can try pulling more fuel out at idle but i didnt know if maybe it was just an electrical thing since the airpump is unplugged.

anyways, if anyone actually knows what they're talking about...help would be appreciated. i tried searching, but i have to be the worst searcher ever...can never find what i need.

Well, you removed the air that the airpump was pumping at idle without changing the amount of fuel, so yes you will be richer.

does the air pump have any other output hoses, other than the one that goes to the cat. he said that the cat was removed before the air pump removal, and the air fuel ratio was ok.

rich is better than lean, although not as much potential power.

u need to block off ur airpump inlets! or u'll get a vacuum leak, u've gotta live with it rich at idle, or have it tuned w/PFC. good luck mate!

The airpump also supplies air for the ACV which is attached to the LIM. This is the air which is not present with the airpump removed/disconnected.

Typically, unless you have a programmable ECU where you can adjust your idle setup, you'll need to raise your idle RPM to help it smooth out without the airpump. I don't know PFS has that adjustability since I've never seen one.

Well, if you provided more info when you ask a question you'll get better help. If you post no mods, most ppl will assume your stock.

Zyon13B: I said in my initial post that I had dp, mp, and catback and the airpump was doing nothing. read next time.

Mahjik: thanks. the PFS lets me adjust fuel at idle, but i dont think it lets me fine tune it enough. either its rich, or the car starts wanting to die. i can live with it rich...i still got 21mpg average on my last fillup.

What type of intake though? If that's not stock, then you must turn to the ECU to fix the mixture. Also without blocking plates, your losing air before it gets to the engine. Can you boost up to 10psi or what ever you set your boost at?
