Reliability of F cars

I am just wondering about the reliability of these cars. I have owned 2 second gen and 1 first gen. I plan on keeping my 87 but I wonder why I see so many 3rd gen with rebuilt engines and rebuilt turbos on these cars with low mileage. (look at e/ bay for example. )

Is this because the car puts out too much horsepower or is this just abusive owners or???

I am ready to buy one. Just now not sure about them.

I think it's cuz people get a straight pipe exhaust system and intake and use the stock ecu with the stock pills in the waste gate at the same time. oh well, 3rd gens are great cars and I'd buy one as soon as possible if you can, their not getting any younger.
