reinstalling removed ac

So I am going to be reinstalling the Denso system in my 93 rx7. I have found most of the information I need except the pulley system and belt info. I didn't have the idler adjustment pulley or power steering and it seems the stock routing was with the p/s. Is there a way to have the a/c without p/s?

Thinking the easiest way is just add the p/s back so I most likely will go that route.

That's interesting, so it uses the same pulley. I wonder if there is any effect on the belt with the grooves being pulled by the smooth pulley or if there is an aftermarket pulley with grooves to change it to.

I don't think he had any problem with that setup before he parted it out.

So I got the o-ring kit in, just guessing but there are some thin and some thick ones so the thick ones go on the high pressure side or does it matter? Right now I am just replacing what I am taking off and comparing to a new one. Just did the expansion valve with the 4 and the drier with the 2. Really hope I can get the ac done in one shot with no problems but yea.. ~__~

What did you wrap your expansion valve with? I went to Canadian tire and bought some 3/16" pipe insulation that has a tin foil cover with what looks like insulation behind it. A roll like foil tape.

Why would I wrap the expansion valve with something? I am talking about the o-ring sizes as I bought the kit that has all of them, but you can tell some are the same diameter but thicker.

Oh I thought you may have replaced the expansion valve. The bulb on it has to be attached to the output of the evaporator and wrapped like oem.

I did replace it, but it doesn't attach to anything. Think your talking about the mana system, I am using the Denso.

And now the hard part of should I try to keep it r12, or just go to r134a... ugh decisions...I mean I would love to use r12, but it is so hard to find places that do it now.

Wrap your belt like the pic and use 134. Don't forget to use new desiccant, also flush the condensor and evaporator with mineral spirits.
Easy-Peasy

As I pulled old o-rings out I compared them to the package of 100 new green ones and got them matched up as close as possible. My car had been converted to 134a right before I bought it. Condenser failed and all the freon leaked out. It took me a year for the engine rebuild and then I finally got the system recharged last month. 134 again. Yesterday it was 95-100F in NJ. I was running down the HW, water temp at 99C. AC was just keeping me comfortable. In the low 90s high 80s ambient it was fine. Nice and cold. Paid an AC shop for the evac, new oil and charge. Wanted it done right. Cost was $250.

There is a pulley that you can buy to replace the stock pulley. I purchased a ribbed idler pulley from Napa and it works great. I'll find the part number and post it up.

The pictures I am seeing of that pulley you linked all seem to show it just like the stock one with no ribs. Am I missing something?
