Refinishing FD headlight lenses?
I was able to get a pair of complete fd headlight free and they have slight dings and scratches on them. I would like to refinish the lenses to make them look new and replace mine. Does anyone have any experience refinishing the lenses? What would you advise me to do? Or is it possible to buy new lenses without the whole headlight set.
Thank You

you should just buy a new set. Go to your local AutoZone, Kragen, Pepboys etc. They will have some Silverstars that work nicely for the FD. It is overall brighter than the stock ones. Most ppl are happy with those, eventhough i haven't got them myself, i will soon get a pair myself.

TainoIndian: Eastwood makes a glass polishing kit, but personally I wouldn't bother, that is, if you want it to look new. Just buy a new lens from Malloy or look for a clean one in the classifieds.

Thanks, I am sketchy about polishing. I am afraid they will have lots of haze and look cheap.
I am actually trying to pry of the lenses off right now. I have removed the clips, will a heat gun work or is it to strong? I heard you can stick these in the oven but i am very afraid because I have never done that.

I've put lights in the oven before, it was easy. http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1894
I'm not sure if you can see the photos on this page without registering...
quick summary: 250 degrees Fahrenheit , for 8-12 minutes. Don't burn your hands, and avoid getting glue on the lens or reflector.
