RedLine Water Wetter... is it worth it?

I have used it once on my cooling system, and according to RedLine, its not gonna "cool the engine more" but it actually helps protect the engine in case the car DOES overheat... is any of this true, or is it a waste of money?

I used royal purple's "purple ice", worked like magic at maintaining cooler temperatures for me, even in this texas heat. I have no experience with water wetter though.

same stuff diff brand. thermostat controlls temps as does fan turn on temp. these products can speed the temp swing. from 210 to 195 for example. just a surfacant

Both only help a few degrees, and that's assuming you have a high % of water in the system. But you should always use at least 30% antifreeze to protect against boilover. The bottle's cheap, you only need it once every coolant change and cooling is important. Sure, I'd say it's worth it. I wouldn't go out of my way to find it, but if you're already at the store and you see it, why not?

True, if you have plenty of cooling your temp will stay at the thermostat temp regardless. The "few degrees" is more for when you've got a lot of heat or it's hot out and your temp is above the thermostat temp.

some people on this forum say that the redline actually reduces the life of the internal coolant seals... I have a hard time believing this unless I see some hard facts behind this theory, anyone know anything about that?

i dunno whether this helps but according to them.. RedLine Wetter is suppose to have anti-corrosion and better heat transfer properties. i only have had my fd for about 2 months.. but my friend have had it for 6 years now and he swears by it. so... i personally don't see any issue with it unless someone can have physical prove otherwise.

+1, Yes, it does help with corrosion and better heat transfter. i've used water wetter since 97. altho on 3 different cars, 2 of them are FD's and this one i've been running a bottle each coolant change. which i've only done once a year in the past 3. no problem, car's still running strong.

'05 when i picked up this FD, had no undertray and the car overheats a bit above the center of the gauge., i dumped a bottle in, and it helped a little but significantly enough to notice. was on stock ECU then, so i was only able to see if factory water temp gauge hold more steady while still slightly overheating

According to redline, WW works the best if its only water and WW, but i'm hesitant to try that.. so i still add it to my 50/50 mix

great stuff
