red brake light comes on

whenever i drive the car and give at least half throttle so the second turbo comes on, the red brake light comes on. i think its the emergency brake handle light, because the brake booster is not making any noise.

for the first few weeks it would go back off right when i let go of the throttle. latelty though, the light will stay on for about a minute even after cruising once the i let go of the throttle. that makes me think maybe something else is wrong. anybody else have this problem?

when i had that problem, it was because trhe hand brake was a little loose, so when i hit the throttle too hard, the hand brake would rise up a little and cause the brake light to come on. try taking the car out, and get the light to come on, then when it is on, push down on the brake and see if it goes back off. if that is the case, you just need to tighten the little screw/bolt thing that is underneath the brake boot. remove the center console, and you will see it on the side of the brake.

Top off your brake fluid see if that is it. It is either this or the post above.

That was my guess. I used to have a 1994 mx-6, and the e-brake light also served as a "brake fluid low" warning light. If you floor it, your brake fluid will all shift back in the chamber, and if its low, your sensor will read it as being nex to empty. Try topping it off.

At first we thought that was the case on my friends dodge stealth, but then realized that it wasn't that at all. I was just the brake fluid in the master cylinder sloshing off of the sensor that tells if there is enough fluid, tripping the light. But I'm sure it could be what you said also, cause that was our first thought.

Also it is possible the one-way check valve to your brake booster is on the fritz, allowing pressure to enter instead of only pulling vacuum.

Seems like most Japanese cars use the parking brake light to double as a low fluid indicator...

If the light is on either your fluid is low or the adjustment on the e-brake is off.

With the car parked just jiggle the e-brake up and down without actually letting it reach the first click. If you can make the brake light flash it's the adjustment on the e-brake, otherwise top up the brake fluid.
