Rebuilt engine vs. new engine
Rebuilt engine vs. new engine
Hey yall, what's the important difference between a rebuilt and a brand new engine, besides the fact that one is new and one is old. Is a rebuilt engine just as good as a new engine, and what's the difference between street and race porting?

Nice engine. How much did you buy it? How long did it take for delivery?
legomyeggroll803 i don't htink that you can find a brand new engine in the states unless you import one from Japan which will be too expensive.
About the difference about porting it's a long story and you can use the search button and you'll find all the info you need.

Well, the engine was most crucial part for the success of my car's rebuilt, so I decided for the less risky and more expensive option.
Standard price for this engine in my country is appr.$7600. I managed to get some discount, so it cost me appr.$6250 in the end. In germany, standard price (with VAT) is appr.$6500. This is shortblock engine and includes all rotary shortblock with oil pan, water pump, thermostat, flywheel and main pulleys.

That engine in the picture above looks just like a reman that comes from Mazda's facility in California. The only way to get a totally new engine is to buy all the pieces new and don't use a core engine (end/middle plate, rotors, eccentric shaft, front cover plus some other stuff).
