Rebuilt Engine, Old Clutch, Expect What?
I have a stock '93 touring that is getting a rebuilt engine next week. The clutch has about 60k on it with probably 0.030" wear on each face. It seemed to be O.K. when I drove it a little on one rotor. I haven't disassembled the pressure plate from the flywheel to see the general surface conditions yet.
If I layout about $550 I can get a stock clutch kit and forget about clutch problems for awhile. However, if I put my old clutch parts back in will the strong motor now cause the clutch to be the next item to fail?
I am getting the tranny rebuilt, because the bearings were noisy and I thought it might be big trouble waiting for me.
Does anyone have some clutch failure experiences to share with me?
Thanks,
Steve Bradley
