Rebuilding rack, need help finding parts

I'm rebuilding an extra steering rack I have and also converting it to a manual one. I took out the "quill shaft" and welded it. When I took the shaft out I noticed that the bearings are all bad.

I assumed that it would be easy to find replacement bearings from Malloy Mazda. Called Ray and the bearings are apparently not included in the rack kits 32-180A or 32-120 and they do not carry the bearings. I guess the above kits include the seals and the valve for the power steering system...

So I need to find someone who either rebuilds our racks or find the exact bearings that are used.

The problem is that my rack and all the old bearings are in Croatia, and I'm in the states now...so I don't have the bearings with me for reference.

Does any one know the exact bearings we have in our racks? One bearing is a needle roller bearing and the other two are ball bearings.

I feel bad because the needle bearing was actually fine, but I assumed I would easily get it from Ray, so I took it out anyway and damaged it in the process, I figured if I'm replacing everything might as well replace the needle bearing.

I'm leaving back to Croatia for the holidays and would like to get the necessary parts so I can complete the rebuild and manual conversion of my rack.

Any help is appreciated guys

Would it be possible to have the bearings shipped to you? You said you removed them. Then, you could bring them to a place that specializes in bearings (there is a place like that near me) to identify a replacement. Wouldn't be hard for a shop like that to identify them.

Just for your info, if you go on rockauto.com and look up the rack for the rx7, there is a rebuild service listed. Send them a rqck and they rebuild it. Maybe they will accept yours as is.

Well the two ball bearings were easy to take out and they are still functional, the needle roller bearing is in pieces. And all of them are stashed somewhere in my basement in Croatia and no one but me would be able to find them. I'm not worried as much finding the ball bearings, its the needle bearing that I'll have issues finding a new one.

If I can' find replacements before I leave for the holidays, when I come back to the states I guess I'll have to bring them with me for reference.

Thanks for the info

Thanks. I'll check them out. My rack is not in the states so shipping it would not be cheap. I'll try to get a hold of someone who rebuilds them and they might know ro even have the bearings I need.

So I marked where the two ball-bearings go (different sized bearings obviously) and where the needle roller bearing goes.

One thing that came to mind is calling Maval on Monday and asking them if they could sell me the bearings. I guess they should have them considering they rebuild them

Just got off the phone with Maval, they were super helpfull but unfortunetly they do not have replacment bearings. I guess my only option is to either look for a core rack on here...or buy a replacment rack from rockauto...
