Ok, trick was to expand my search to go outside the US. Found both as quad rings:

https://www.gteek.com/X-ring-4.47x1.78-EPDM-70
https://www.gteek.com/X-ring-18.72x2.62-EPDM-70

I'm going to assume "on stock" means "in stock" so I requested an order and we'll see I guess.

Mrmatt3465 I couldn't respond to your message because your rx7club mailbox is full. I tried emailing, but not sure if it went through? Could you please check?

Subbed.

Seems like rebuilding abs units might be an opportunity for some weekend entrepreneur.

Can some ABS guru please explain to me the inner workings of our ABS pumps. Specifically the valve/piston circled in the image below. As far as I can tell the ABS motor has the eccentric ring which engages the small piston in the valve, and makes the piston go in and out, correct? And then what happens from there onwards? What is the flow of brake fluid doing at this point?

And is this valve located on the side of the manifold which has the Front Left and Front Right solenoid valves correct?

So what's up with the valve on the opposite side of the manifold? Is it just a dud?

Ok so ya’ll can ignore my post above 😂😂😂

both valves are identical, only thing is one of my valves was severely seized. When I took out the first one the small piston was going in and out just fine, and the piston came out easily. The second one was completely seized, no movement whatsoever. I just assumed its supposed to be like that 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

after a lot of brake cleaner and using a small pick through one of the holes I was able to get the piston to move and give in a little. Even the force of the larger spring did nothing to help push the piston out. Eventually got it out and cleaned the bore and the piston…and now it moves in and out smoothly.

going to rebuild the pump soon and see how it goes. Will report back once everything is installed back in the car

Before finding out about the eBay seller above I went ahead and ordered a set of o-rings from Global O-ring and Seal…

but without the one set (TS33-116) of o-rings which is not in stock on their site.

so I found a local o-ring maker and took the lower manifold along with the existing o-ring and asked him if he could make me some replacements from EPDM…and he did..€2 per o-ring.

Who has had their Prop valve start weeping through the rubber weep hole? The original one is NLA, but you can get the later model 99+ spec one but the brakes are bigger on that and the ABS system is quite different....
Unsure if anyone has tried it, my guess is the proportioning F vs R is different or slightly different...

Or can u replace the seals inside it...

brakes are only bigger on the Spirit-r/RS/RZ models…also known in Japan as the “17-inch” brakes as they require a 17” wheel or larger to clear the larger calipers.

non Spirit-r/RS/RZ models have the same standard brakes regardless if 99+ spec or not.

ABS system has been updated over the model years, but the prop valve seems to be the same. Only difference on the prop valve is that the early FD model prop valve has these two adapters between the prop valve and the hard lines. The later model FD’s do not have these two adapters, and the hard lines go directly to the prop-valve body.

notice the later spec ABS prop valve does not have these two adapters.

also one of the early models MX-5 seems to be using the same or similar prop-valve which also does not use the two adapters.

I am not sure what these two adapters do, and why Mazda decided to leave them out on the later spec FD’s and on the MX-5

Mine has those adapters (1993 JDM) and its leaking. I'll need to get the later model prop valve, maybe pull those spacers/adapters off and see if there is any restrictor or anything in there..

hmm, where exactly is it leaking? Maybe it just needs to be tightened?

Wanting to start rebuilding a JDM RHD 1993 ABS pump. My one is leaking from one of the round bungs on the back of the hydraulic manifold. (Facing the firewall) I notice no where in this thread does it show anyone removing these. There are 4 in total (2 on the front and 2 on the back)

They appear to have a circlip holding them in, also with an access hole on the manifold.

No idea how to remove the circlip or the bung.

has anyone successfully removed these as I assume they have o-rings sealing them also.
