Rebuild or Power FC?

hey i'm stuck. I recently had a compression test done and my numbers came out alright...ther're getting down there. My numbers are

RPM:275 Front: 8.4, 8.5, 8.4
RPM:279 Rear: 8.5, 8.2, 8.3

I have enough for a power fc with commander, and my question is should i buy the power fc or should i keep saving for a rebuild? I really need the pfc too thought because i'm running a 3" full exhaust with no cats and i have no boost controller. Which means mad boost spikes ( yes i know not to get on it) I rarely drive her because i didnt have a pfc but now i have the money but im not sure what to do.

Why would you assume your motor is just going to blow? Although running full exhaust with no boost control is, to put it bluntly, stupid.

Get the PFC and prevent your motor from blowing up. If you have to debate between proper modifications and whether or not you could afford a major repair, perhaps you shouldn't be modding the car!

well im not sure how good/bad those numbers are but . power fc is one of the best mods you can make. plus it will help your new engine (when eva you get it) last longer b/c it alows you to let the engine run cooler. if tuned it will give you extra leway so that if your boost spike it wont blow yuh engine. plus the monitor mode saves you from having to buy extra guages. you can also get rid of all the solinoids, rats nest and emisions to simplify everything and make the car more reliable and easy to work on.

Those numbers arent THAT bad to expect your engine to go tomarrow, except your running a mp so maybe it will. I'd put the cat back on, and buy a power fc & commander, btw gettn a power fc wont control your boost creep that running full exhaust is giving you.

not really. the PFC doesn't always do a good job of controlling boost in colder climates. save your money, but a used boost controller like a profec b spec 1 for 150. if you keep doing dangerous mods like running a mid pipe w/o a boost controller, your gonna need the money for a rebuild sooner rather than later.

plus you'd still have to get the PFC tuned. so factor in another 500 or so.

What the hell are you guys talking about, "getting down there"? 8's and above in compression are awesome numbers. 8.5 is equivalent to 120psi. A perfect engine usually gives 120-125. Yours is as good as they come, if the numbers were any higher I'd question their validity.

You start to worry when you drop into the 6's, which is the 95psi and below range.

Get the PFC and a good tune, your compression is still good, it'll help keep it that way.

you dont even need to worry about getting your wastegates ported, just get the PFC tuned to USE the extra boost the wastegates cant vent!

i.e run 12 psi or whatever.
