REBUILD ISSUES: Various Questions on performance

ok, have now roadtested her twice... once was a bit messed up in the hosing... this time SHOULD have been fine, but it wasn't.

so, i have a few questions!
1. my Blitz water temp gauge isn't giving a reading on ANYTHING; we even dropped it in a cup of boiling water to test and it didn't return any info... but it was working before the rebuild so why could it have given up the ghost now? anyone running blitz gauges and have any stories to tell?

2. she ran hot... really hot... got to the heat light but THEN the heat light went out and we could continue limping her home.

3. ran exceptionally rich.... black fuel smoke everywhere and a very high and lumpy idle... think these could be caused by a vacuum pressure leak right? am looking at this site (http://www.turborx7.com/images/Techn...inal_image.jpg) because it would have to be in pressurized hosing correct? i mean she sounded like she had a HUGE port in her, but she is stock. the pressure on the turbos also read as coming in way before it should have... leak?

4. for anyone thats interested... seems the smoke the other day has burnt off or was a radiator cap leak... since i have replaced that it seems fine.
