Any motor job that we take in, if it's the original harness, it gets replaced in order for the FD to leave with a warranty. CAS connectors, fuel injector connectors, there are too many important sensors dependent on a 100% good harness.

I've seen original harnesses that needed replacing as early as 60k miles. It's not just mileage, it's time. Replacing it every 14 years or so doesnt seem totally unreasonable, in my opinion. Plus, it's safe to say that FDs aren't racking up the miles like they once were, so that will add to the lifespan of the replacement harness.

I am with majik and rynberg. To get it done right, the first time, you're looking at $5k+ (many parts will be bought and replaced along the way in addition to the engine)

Can't you just wrap the harness in heat reflecting tape?

You need to (really should) remove the stock covering on the smaller wires, then re-wrap it. What they use on the smaller wires just turns to plastic with a few heat cycles.

I'm in MI also (lansing area). I'll be taking my car to banzai racing when it's time for a rebuild, i've had some good chats with them, read review posts by customers, and i'm very confident they will do an exellent job for an affordable price.

Glad to see another FD owner in the area .
