Question Rear Tail Light Cover

I've always wondered what the point of this thing was for.

I've always thought of it as a cheaper replacement to buy the '99 spec lights, but I'm prolly mistaken.

this has nothing to do with the 99 lights. its all about the lip on the top. i think this pice looks really nice if painted black, or left in raw carbon fiber. if this is painted body color, like the pic above, it looks really ugly IMO.

Yea I agree with ya JoeD about the body color painting scheme, but what I keep thinking is that this can be sued as a replacement for the 99 spec since it appears to make the say fitment look as them except for the extra lip up top. In other words, I think that it would be pointless to buy the new spec taillights and then put that on. Then again I need someone to verify this cause I would much rather just bu the taillight cover.

yeah, it would be pretty pointless to buy 99 spec lights and put those on... i'm not even sure the holes will line up exactly w/ the round lights so it might not even look right. i've seen them painted white on a white car w/ a full kit and i think it actually looked ok. what color is your car?

No more Rx-7. Was sold a long time ago. But currently I'm still looking into getting another once I feel up to the challenge again! But I personally don't like them anoy other color than black. Even more prefearbly I would want to leave them carbon fiber.

Nope wasn't mine. I'm just down here cause I'm currently attendnig UCSD. I normally live up in Irvine so there's no way that one is mine. As a matter of fact, I don't even have a car down here to make matters even worse. And to think I would use a Rex as my daily driver heh. And before anybody else asks me like the color and and other things about it, I had a 1st gen silver :p. I judt felt like upgrading to a more modern times . Hope that answered your question potato . So do you still attend SD or have you gratuated already?

it looks good on this car....maybe because of the color contrast and also it is carbon.

ok...one thing needs to be set straight.

why do some of you think this piece is gross and ugly?? if it is painted the body color, then yes...it is ugly, IMO. but same goes to the stock tail lights. if you paint the entire stock tail lights from the outside the body color, that is gonna look gross too.

if the piece is left black, it will look completely stock except for the round lights and lip on the top. do you guys think the round lights and bigger lip is ugly???

i think that the original in carbon fibre may look alright,,on the right car, as we see above, but the knockoff painted to match is just wrong.

JoeD, liek that pic. Seen it somewhere before. Anywho, yea it looks totally sweet and to be quite honest (and yes I lik the 3rd rear tailight), but if you look up above at the pic posted by Rikki and stare at the center for liek 10 seconds, you will get a sense of understanding that it truely makes the car look cleaner. Then again it might be the fact that he it's on an all black car, but hey let's work with what we've got. BTW, thanks for all the votes! Never thought a threat that I started would get this many posts! Yes...I'm a peccemist (sp?)
