Question Rear seats for my rx7

Where can i purchase the back seat for my RX7. It only has the two rear compartments for tools. Sometimes i want share the force of the mighty 7 with my friends but lack of rear seats prevents this.

New or used seat it-does not matter.

Look in the parts for sale section of the site, once in a while they're in there from people over seas. There were none imported into the US by mazda. Can be quite expensive too. And the seating "area" is so small your friends might not fit in it. I'll see if I can find some pics somewhere.

They are hardly even functional. Mazda made them in Japanese models to qualify the car for a different vehicle class (tax reasons or something). There is very little leg room, even with the front seats slid forward.

too much trouble to put them in. leg room sucks. (sit in the back with them in then try to stay comfortable. the seats remind me of the 3000GT ones. but the 3000gt has a little more room in it!

Seen 2 or 3 sets and they definately look better than the rear bins. Anyone over 3ft tall will not fit. But hey its not like those rears bins are really usefull for anything other than a Gallon of coolant and a fire ext.

Also the ladies are more likely to sit all cramped up in the back v.s. sitting in the hatch.

i have had 6 people in my fd with no need for these seats. of course it was incredibly stupid but incredibly hilarious when i shot flames on my friends leg which was hanging out of the open hatch. WE WERE GOING VERY SLOW VERY LATE AT NIGHT AND NO ONE WAS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER.

Removed for a reason, rear seats don't belong in sports cars, if you want a family vehical get a Rx8. No i can't hate on the 8, that much. But if your just doing it for looks and it sounds like it will be alot of $ for alot of nothing, then why not just get something molded in with like fiber glass or something.

You also have to remember that just about every car in Japan comes with four seats no matter what kind of car it is. i.e Supra, RX-7, 300zx 2+2, Skyline

In Japan, the thinking of cars are different. It's too "impractical", etc. to not have four seats. There's a higher demand for a car with four seats than for one with two because their society views them differently. My dad has a friend in Japan and that's a little bit of what he told my dad. He mainly said that four-seaters are popular and that two-seaters are not nearly as much. BTW The guy talking to my dad actually owned an FD in Japan.

They are good for holding bags of groceries; prevents things from around in the hatch.

Curious. What are the long term consequences of drastically overloading the car (weight wise)?

I'm a big guy and when I am in the car with ONE other bigger person, the suspension can be heard creaking.

I dont think that making a sports car with back seat takes away its sporty looks. In fact it makes the car more versatile. I believe the lambo was originally to be made with ONE front seat and no BACK ones...grave stupidity!!!! Thank God good sense prevailed. Look at the beautiful rear doors on the RX8...one just slips into the rear seat without disturbing the pilot...i mean the driver...ha ha ha!!!
