I wouldn't reuse an oil seal. They are cheap compared to pulling the engine again for an oil leak.

Unfortunately, this is one of those items that is not worth reusing. Just bite the bullet and purchase a new unit. As the above posters mentioned, you do not want to have an oil leak because of a failing oil seal...

What the others said. I'd think they'd be really hard to remove with damage anyway.

I use the old seal to install the new one. Oil the walls up on new, put the old one on top and and tap it in...evenly.

It's fairly easy to remove and install but while your in there you might as well change the rear stationary gear o-ring to!!! I thought i had a rear main leak. Installed a new one and the oil leak came back. I checked out the technical service bulletins from Mazda and found one for this o-ring leaking, leaking behind the rear main seal and out on the sub frame.

You can remove the 6 or 8 bolts that hold the rear main housing in place and replace the seal and o-ring at the same time. The o-ring was about $4. It's been a year and not one oil leak!!!
