rear light units
Got a 93 gen 3 fd which alredy has the 99 spec front nosecone, 99 spec alloy wheels, and a few other 99 spec upgrades. The only part of the car that looks out of place because of the 99 spec upgrades, is the rear light units.
As they are too expensive to update to the 99 spec round lights, and they are like rocking horse ***** to find second hand, i fished around for an alternative way of sorting it out.
Quite a few people have told me to remove the light units, remove the smoked plastic exterior and cover the whole unit with thick, black , heat resistant insulation tape. Once this has been done, you can carefully cut out the round holes of black tape, leaving behind an appearance of 3 round rear lights, almost the same as the later spec cars.!!!
Tried to give it a go, but after removing the rear light units, have not been able to remove the smoked plastic , to gain access to the actual surface that needs to be covered in black tape.
Has anyone done this cheap mod, or successfully managed to remove the smoked plastic ?? ANY IDEAS WELCOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
