Car buying help....
Wats up guys im familiar with the online info about about buying an FD but juss one question i found a guy selling an FD with a boost gauge cat back w/ 90k on clock w/ a manual for 11.5k seems like a good deal but shouldn't i be weary about buying a higher mileage (over 70-80k) for a FD? How helpful is a compression test in determining the overall heath of the engine cuz ive looked at a few threads here and got mixed answers about it. The owner says it runs good but haven't gotten the chance to take a look at it myself yet. THX

You want to reread the buyers guide linked in the Newbie sticky thread.
Compression tests don't cover everything, but they are best single piece of data. Also important are the other signs: smoke during a cold start, smoke after restarting a warm engine (white coolant smoke), coolant system pressure test, and champagne bubble test.
At 70-80k, if it's an original engine, consider it to require replacement between now and soon. Even if taken care of impeccably, it's a lot of luck if it will make it to 90k or 100k. Most cars at this age have had their engines rebuilt.

How much is a good price for a rebuild and how long on average do the shops need it for? Im guessing from what ive seen for a basic rebuild around 2.5-3k?
