rear hatch rattle?

Hi all, in my fd there is like a rattle at low speeds, sound like its coming from the bak right of the car?

I heard this is a common problem for FD's and the rear hatch needs to be tightened. Is that so? Is that easy?

thanks

2 things to try one lower the latch mechanism that is behind the rear panel. I also put a shim under the ruber pads on each side of the latch. I did both of these about 5 months ago and it has not returned. Also at the same time I put on my DP, MP and Cat-back and noticed that I was missing a exhaust hanger that may have allowed the exhaust to be ratteling. May want to check your exhaust also.

You can do the rubber bumper, or just put some electrical tape around the latches on the hatch, and that will solve it..

I just ordered new rear hatch "wedges" (rubber cushions) from mazda, thinking the old ones may have lost their resiliency after 10 years....I let you know how it turns out....I tried lowering the hatch and electrical tape and nothing has fixed it long term (lowering the hatch worked for awhile)....who knows, maybe it is another problem, but it definitely sounds like the hatch....it keeps coming back to haunt me and it drives me nuts

if the "wedges" don't work I think I will weld the hatch shut

for a 36k car (new), this thing has alot of cheap *** parts, squeaks, and rattles

the latch has oversize bolt holes so you can lower it slightly, or you can enlarge them further with a die grinder (which didn't do much for me)

open the trunk and remove the rear plastic piece to get to it
